Thai Mango Salad

My latest food addiction is thai mango salad!

It's very easy to make! You just chop two mangos, 1/2 a red pepper, 1/3 of an onion into thin slices,

sprinkle some cilantro and cashews,

and top it off with fish sauce vinegrette! Enjoy! :-)

Sweet Surprises

Things that made me smile this week was getting an extra slice of carrot cake for free!

After school today, I treated Jess to a drink at Second Cup. I also wanted a slice of carrot cake and I offered to buy her one but she didn't want me to buy it for her. So when I was paying (I knew the cashier, by the way) I asked for two slices but Jess was like, "No!" so I was only charged for one slice of cake but she actually put two slices on the plate for me!!!! :-)

The other things that made me smile this week was going to co-op of course!

To be honest, getting hours isn't my motivation for going to co-op. They make me happy!!!

Guess what! This week, I got to see my grade three teacher there! (By the way, I didn't go to this elementary school that I'm doing my co-op at!) What a small world, right? My grade three teacher retired so now she's being a supply teacher at various schools. She actually helped me so much in deciding which high school to go to! :-) I was about to get into I.B...

Other things that made me smile this week... was being chosen to design the tickets for my school's play,

eating cinnamon hearts and...

being surprised with a blueberry muffin at lunch! :-) Thank you Lana! I don't help people expecting anything in return!

"I got a blueberry muffin and I just thought, Cindy should really have it."

My 17th Birthday

I finally celebrated my seventeenth birthday!
I wanted to keep my birthday really small this year, so I just invited my besties! I've known these girls since I was young and I just know we'll be close for a really long time!!! :-)

Yesterday, Susie, Ryan and I had to run to No Frills, Wal-Mart, Dollarama and Metro to pick up all the food and supplies for my mini get together! :-)

We rushed home and quickly prepared all the food before everyone came! We finished on time, woO hoOo!! Is it weird that I didn't want to go out this year, or get super drunk? I preferred having my besties over this year and have taco night! I love my tacos! Hahaha :-)

We had tacos, mini hamburgers, onion rings, and garlic bread! I'm so happy everyone enjoyed the food!

When we were done eating, we all said we were so full... but I guess not if we still ate more snacks... Hahaha :-)

Jen came a bit late to my birthday party but she had good intentions! She actually ran downtown to get me macarons for my birthday present! So sweet!!! My love for macarons is indescribable!

Megan was so thoughtful and ran to get me a present too! She got me a super cute owl necklace and I've always wanted one too! Thanks so much guys! I honestly wasn't expecting anything. After opening my birthday presents, it was time to cut my cake! :-)

Everyone sang me happy birthday... but seriously though, what do you do when everyone sings to you?!

We all said we were so full but I guess not... Hahaha :-)

The cake tasted amazing!!! It was so much better than ice cream cake! I've had DQ's ice cream cake every. single. year. it doesn't phase me anymore! I'm sure this is the first year where my daddy didn't buy me it! Thanks for the cake Ryan!!! :-)

After the cake, we took a few group photos! I'm so happy for great friends! :-)

We were going to watch a horror movie after but we decided to play cranium! I love this game!!! Hahaha

After the game, each friend had to slowly go home... eventually it was just Jen and Joy left.. :-)

Thanks for celebrating my birthday with me guys!!! :-*

I also want to give a big thank you to my sister and brother-in-law for making it all possible!!! :-* It's time to celebrate it with my other best friend tonight! :-)

Thrifty Shoppers

Yesterday my sister and I met up with each other to grab some lunch and to buy her friend a birthday present! After having a tough time deciding where to go for lunch, we eventually chose to go to an asian cuisine, Spring Rolls!

We had the all-you-can-eat menu where we were able to order and try multiple appetizers! :-)

The food tasted great! My sister said their service was really similar to Spoon and Fork and I've never been there before!

"This does not look like chicken.." "...It's not, it's pineapple."

Every plate was delicious except the last plate we ordered... the thai red curry crab. Yuck!

My sister took one for the team and ate it to save our butts from paying for the individual appetizer! Hehehe :-)

While we were eating, a fly started flying around and my sister wacked it and it landed in my soy sauce! She started drowning it with soy sauce but it wouldn't die so she took a piece of raw fish to try to suffocate it.. it worked! Hahaha

The highlight of the lunch were their desserts! We ordered the tempura cheesecake and mango sticky rice! I'm not a fan of cheesecake but it actually tasted so good when it's deep fried. The mango sticky rice was tasted bomb!!!

After the meal, my sister was dying... I was still smiling! Hahaha :-)

After we left and went to the subway station, one of the food booths there offered us to try some of their samples, I was like, "Sure!!!" and my sister gave me a look and was like, "Aren't you full yet?!" Hahaha I'm not sure where all this food is going...

We took the subway to my work to shop around at the stores and boutiques on the street! We walked into a cute store called, Oink, oink! It's a children's toys and books store and there were so many cute things!

A Hello Kitty toaster caught my eye and I showed it to my sister and she fell in love with it too! She bought it as the birthday gift for her friend! I'm so jealous, we don't even own a toaster! Hahaha

You get to make toast with Hello Kitty faces on them! The toaster also toast bagels and does defrost! :-)

After leaving this store, we walked into TNT and they were having amazing sales!!! All the tops we purchased was 75% off! We saved so much - how thrifty are we! :-)

My sister initially got her friend the Naked palette at Sephora as a birthday gift but after finding the Hello Kitty toaster, I bought it off of her! :-)

I knew I was going to eventually buy it since I've been wanting it for a while!

The shades are so beautiful!

I also purchased a new Hello Kitty makeup case that I'll use as a pencil case from Oink oink!

Whatta fun day with Susie! I can't wait to celebrate my belated birthday party tomorrow! :-)
