Christmas Market

After Daniel got off work yesterday, we checked out the Christmas Market at Distillery District!! This is our third year going together, but first time visiting on a weekday!

I'm actually glad we went yesterday because it wasn't chilly out, unlike all the other years we went!

When we arrived at the front gates, the first thing we noticed was the new Chimney Stax vendor! Even though I tried one in the summer, I didn't mind sharing another one with Daniel to let him try it for the first time! They told us that our order would be ready in half an hour, so we checked out the other new vendors as we waited.

We received free lip balms from Burt's Bees by posting a photo and tagging them on Instagram. But let's be reaaal.. no one keeps that photo up after they get their goodie!!! Hehe πŸ˜‚  We also tried samples of Campbell's new soups and was asked to drop an ornament into a tank to support one of their charities.

My alarm eventually went off to let us know that it was time to pick up our Chimney Stax. I actually set my timer for 20 minutes, instead of 30, and it was already waiting for us when we got back!

This cinnamon sugary bread was so much easier to bite into than the first time I tried it! I initially wanted to go to the dessert restaurant, Cacao 70, for fondue but I realized that I could go there any time during the year. Since these food vendors are only here for a few weeks, I knew I had to take advantage of it.

Daniel and I also shared a s'mores waffle from Wafel Bar and kinda regretted it after the first bite. It looked aesthetically pleasing and we heard onlookers "oohing" as they walked by, but it was just way too sweet for us! Daniel blames me for ordering this flavour though.. say wha?! LOL

He was the one who emphasized the name while reading the menu out loud and I thought he was trying to drop hints, so I made the executive decision for us.. πŸ˜€

We browsed a few more outdoor vendors, before making our way to the knick knack store, Bergo Designs! We've been visiting this place every year because they have so many cool thingamabobs to see. I think I now have a good idea what Daniel wants for Christmas... πŸ˜‚

We eventually made our way back outside to check out a few more stands before they closed up and tried to take some photos with the giant Christmas tree. We were a little bummed that we missed a photo op with Santa Claus, but then realized that they never turned out good anyways.. πŸ˜‚

As I was going through these photos, I noticed that we both have a tendency of looking down?! I also noticed that it's really hard for us to get a focused or brightly lit photo together... the struggle is so real out here!! πŸ˜‚

We actually enjoyed visiting Distillery on a weekday, rather than the weekend, because the wait times for food is shorter, no one rushed us to move along and admissions were free! The only downside was that there were lesser samples for us to try!! Hahaha

The Christmas Market really got me excited for the holidays!!! You can read more about our other visits here and here. Until next time! xoxo

Daniel's Surprise Birthday Party

Since the last time I've blogged, I threw my boyfriend a surprise birthday party a few days later!!! He has so many friends, so it was a little difficult trying to coordinate with everyone's schedules and make reservations.

On the morning of his birthday, I ran to the supermarket to pick up ingredients to bake him his favourite banana cake! We had all-you-can-eat sushi with his family in the afternoon and went back to his place after. We binged watch YouTube videos and ended up falling asleep. The usual!! Hehe

In the evening, Daniel thought it was just going to be the two of us having dinner at Red Lobster and hanging out at Bowlerama. I told him that we were going to have so much fun together, but I could just see it in his face that he wanted to have his usual bowling buddies there too. Is this boy RUDE or wha! πŸ˜‚

As we were making our way to the restaurant, I got a message from his friends that not everyone has arrived yet, and that I should stall Daniel in the meantime. They suggested that I take him to the supermarket, until they all got seated. I realized that I could actually use that as a detour because I was literally singing about how I wanted mochi ice cream the day before!!

So when I asked Dan if we could make a pitstop to get some, he wasn't surprised by my request at all! At the same time, he didn't understand why I would ask to get it right before dinner, especially when it was so close to our reservation time.

After reassuring him that I could finish a whole box before our meal, he drove me to the supermarket and we were able to kill time!!! When we got there, I told him that I didn't want it anymore because he wasn't going to help me eat some. By then, he was not impressed with me at alllll.. πŸ˜‚

He eventually got over it when he saw all of his homies waiting for him at Red Lobster! I'm still SO happy with how everything turned out and with everyone making the time to show up for him! πŸ’•

Happy (belated) birthday to my best friend, lover and partner in crime!!! I've already told you many times how much you mean to me, so I'm just going to cut the cheesiness and save everyone from cringing! πŸ˜‚

How We Celebrated

For our two year anniversary, Daniel showed up at my door with the biggest grin on his face and dozen roses in hand! ☺️

As we exchanged hugs and kissys, all I could think about was when I had time to wrap his gift because it literally arrived on my doorstep just an hour before he came! I'm still so happy and in awe at how it arrived on time though, since I was worried all week that I would be empty handed on our special day! πŸ˜₯

Before we got to the gift exchange though, we headed out for dinner at Jamie's Italian. We had their bruschetta for appetizers and it was honestly SO good! Like I catch myself thinking about it sometimes?! HAHA πŸ˜‚

When I saw that they offered gnocchi for one of their mains, my mind was quickly made up. If you know me, you would know that I have an obsession with potatoes!!! I love them fried, mashed, boiled, baked, and any other way you can cook it. πŸ˜‚

To top off the night, Daniel bought me my favourite treats... m-m-macarons!!! After dinner, I handed him my gift and he had so many questions once he saw the box of jigsaw puzzle. I answered all of his nosy questions and told him that this was only a small part, and a clue, to the surprise I had for him on the weekend!!! πŸ˜‰

As the days were leading up to my surprise, I was getting more antsy and tempted to tell him what I had in store for him. On the day of, he still didn't want me to tell him what we were doing and wanted to piece it together himself as we went along.

He eventually clued in that we were going to take a private jet to get an aerial view of Toronto, while we sipped on sparkling rosΓ©.

I knew that he always wanted to go "roof topping," but he wasn't down to break any trespassing laws. I figured that this flight was the next best thing to get a great glimpse of the city!

I purposely booked our departure time for when the sun is setting to get amazing views of when the sky looked like cotton candy!

However, in exchange for seeing the sun setting, we had to deal with the "noise" we were going to get in our photos. Regardless, the beautiful sunset, twinkling city lights and smooth flight made it an overall amazing experience!

After the trip, Daniel told me he had no idea how he was going to top this next year. We figured that the only way was to travel somewhere tropical together! We currently have a trip planned for Punta Cana next summer, so we'll see how broke we are after that.... πŸ˜‚

As for his gift, he got me a mini Kate Spade leather backpack that I could use when we go on adventures!! ☺️

I've been looking for a small backpack for a while now and he has been sending me a bunch of suggestions. When I told him that one of his sent images were "nice," this guy orders it a minute later. I have nooo words. He also can't stop complimenting me whenever I wear it now! πŸ˜‚

After our flight, we couldn't wait to go home to eat my mom's spring rolls, so we made a pit stop and got some poutine to suppress our hunger in the meantime. (Thanks again Dan for making a sacrifice and not ordering the "chicken inferno" poutine, since I can't eat it. You da real MVP!!!)

Once we got home and had dinner, we attempted to build the jigsaw puzzle I got for him! Since we didn't have time to sip on the rosΓ© during our flight (because we were too distracted by the view), we enjoyed it with my leftover Halloween candy. LOL

The puzzle was a lot harder to complete than I thought, but it was so rewarding when we finally figured it all out! I loved the puzzle so much that I asked Dan if I could keep his gift... which he obviously wasn't going to let happen. I just love how the heart piece in the middle of the heart puzzle is where we first met!!! πŸ’˜

Happy two year anniversary and early birthday to my favourite little human bean. Looking forward to wiggling with you at the concert tonight and celebrating your birthday tomorrow!!!

Two Years

Yesterday, I celebrated my two year anniversary with my lovey!!! After being together for this long, he's still my favourite person to annoy and the reason why love songs make sense to me. With that being said, I'm so excited to renew my one year subscription with him again!! πŸ’– 😜
