Six weeks have passed since I've seen my best friend, so it was really nice to catch up with her on Friday afternoon! We both tried bubble tea at Chatime for the first time before going for lunch at Insomnia. After we ate, we finally exchanged our belated birthday gifts with each and that's when she admitted that I'm really difficult to get presents for! (She's actually not the first one that has told me that!) Since she had no idea what to get me, she ended up getting me four gifts and I immediately put them all to good use when I got home.

I could actually see all the thought she had put into each gift and she nailed it! Thank you Joycelyn for the seashell holder (that I ended up using to put the jewellery I wear on a daily), Zara candle (that smells like clean laundry), hand mixer (that I have been looking to buy) and jar cup (that was on my wishlist!). I don't know why she was freakin' because she knows me too well!

The day ended with us walking around Kensington market and picking up some macarons at Nadege before heading home! Ah... macarons... always a great idea!!!

Since I'm going to be done school in the second week of April, I have been emailing out my resumes in hopes of finding a part-time job for the summer. I'm going to continue working as a part-time receptionist in the summer (I have been working here for almost 4 years! Love my co-workers and boss - can't leave them yet!) but I'm still going to have a lot of free time on my hands until September!

I was so ecstatic when Aritzia responded to me first and I had my eyes set on getting a job there. I was preparing myself for the interview this Wednesday... until the CN Tower called me yesterday afternoon regarding my application for the photographer position. We scheduled an interview for today and I realized that I had no portfolio to show them in case they asked. I spent all night looking through all the photos I took last year and managed to put something together that showcased my amateur photography skills. I just wanted to send out a quick thanks to all those helped me make my portfolio. (You can check it out here.)

I had my interview with them today and I was so surprised that they hired me on the spot!! So if you have nothing to do this summer, come visit me! To be honest, I have never (or I really don't recall) visited this iconic tourist site before, even though I live in Toronto all my life! Now I'm going to get free admissions all summer!!!

I bought 30 donuts for my whole class afterwards and they thought I did it because it was the last education meeting of the year... but really... I was just in a great mood after the interview! I really think this job was meant for me.

Like c'mon we both share the same initials!!!

Happy Birthday, Charlie!

My cousin Linda called me yesterday morning and told me that she was planning a last minute surprise birthday party for her hubby, Charlie in the evening! Initially, I was planning to catch up on some school work (because this week is a bit hectic as the semester is coming to an end in three weeks - finally!!!) but let's be real, was I really in the mood to do school work last night!?? It's Charlie's birthday and yeah, studying can wait!!!!

She texted me the details of the French restaurant and I googled it and discovered that Charlie's mom actually owns the restaurant! With that said, our family was treated to a free three course meal! Since Jasmine owns the restaurant, I didn't expect anything less from her and she didn't disappoint. Our server was amazing and the food was delicious. It was my first time trying beets and by the end of the night, the distinctive taste actually grew on me since it was included in many of the dishes served!

I hope you had a wonderful time Charlie because you deserve it! You're one of the most genuine people I know. No one can deny that you're a great listener, a hard worker and the best father. Happy birthday!!! We love you!

I haven't had time to blog last week because I was devoting most of my time to power yoga, editing my resume and catching up on my shows. In other words, I didn't really have a social life last week!!! At one point, I was contemplating on going on a hiatus. I knew that I couldn't lose this little diary of mine and most importantly, my only creative outlet!!! With that being said, I will not be going on a hiatus (or anytime soon) because there are so many exciting things/opportunities that are coming up that I know I would want to remember and capture - like TODAY!!

When I first heard that Pharrell was curating the exhibition, This Is Not A Toy, at Design Exchange, I immediately called my best friend Thiya!!! We've visited numerous art galleries together and I don't know anyone else who appreciates art as much as her! Here are my favourite photos from today!!

We laughed so hard when we found her signature pose!! ^^^

You could see what Thiya captured here!

This is actually my favourite piece from the show!!! ^^^

After having sushi at Bikkuri, we checked out Jelly Modern Doughnuts! My friend Kim raved about it in her recent blog post so I was excited to see what the hype was all about! I tried their classic maple bacon while Thiya tried their Skor bar. (I also bought an extra three for my brother to thank him for all those times he picked me up after work!)

These were good but Ryan and I both agreed that Krispy Kreme still tops our list of being one of the best doughnuts ever!!!

On our bus ride home, Thiya smiled at me and said,
"You make my life so much more exciting Cindy."
