Vancouver (Part 1)

After my birthday party last Saturday, Daniel and I left for Vancouver the next morning at 6:45am! We slept through the alarm (and the snooze!) and arrived at the airport when people started to board the plane... We basically had 30 minutes to run past security and get on our flight. Our stress level was so high!@#$%@! πŸ˜₯

Just when they finished making the last call to board our plane... WE MADE ITTTT!!! Daniel's older sister, Stephanie, and her fiancΓ© was supposed to join us on this trip, but they had a mishap and wasn't able to make it. Since Stephanie couldn't be there to be our tour guide, Daniel's friends came through and gave us a bunch of recommendations on his Facebook status!

My aunt Cindy and uncle Daniel (Guys, I'm not even kidding right now. I actually have an aunt with the same name as me and an uncle with the same name as my boyfriend.) also gave us a bunch of ideas on what to do in Vancouver!

They were all telling us to try the sushi there because this province is located right by the coastline and have access to the freshest seafood. We checked out Momo Sushi because it was conveniently close to our Airbnb in Gastown.

We really enjoyed their specialty rolls and were taken back by how big their maki rolls were! We stuffed our bellies reaaaal good, before making our way to their popular shopping district... ✨ GRANVILLE ISLAND ✨

Daniel was so excited to bust out his drone at this place! Everything was going smooth and dandy, until it attracted all the seagulls.. They started squawking at it, which we knew it was our signal to head inside to the public market. πŸ˜‚

Before we arrived at Granville Island, I actually pictured this place to be like Centre Island. I only thought that because both places have the word "island" in its name! πŸ˜‚

I would now say that this place is comparable to the Distillery District in Toronto! There were lots of cafes and shops within the Granville Island Public Market, and outside of it.

Inside the market, we gawked at glossy truffles, emoji donuts, homemade pasta, fluffy meringue pies and sooo much more. If we didn't have sushi beforehand, I'm pretty sure we would've spent a lot of money on pastries here!

These photos of us was basically what we looked like the whole trip. Photography couple. πŸ˜‚

After we finished exploring Granville Island, we took the bus back to downtown Vancouver. Daniel was hoping to fly his drone at the Canadian Place to get a nice shot of the coastline and the city.

Unfortunately, we saw so many signs there that prohibited drones. I'm so bad and told Daniel to act like he didn't see those signs because it wasn't at eye level. As we kept walking.. we came across one that was at eye level... UGH! πŸ˜‚

We still got really neat shots from our cameras! Once the sun started setting, we made our way back home to freshen up for dinner.

We were really looking forward to having dinner at this Cambodian restaurant, Phnom Penh! Our Airbnb host and Daniel's friends were really hyping this place up, so we had to see what it was all about.

We were expecting a long line up at the door and were prepared to wait for over an hour. To our surprise, the place is closed until March!!! Just our luck! 😒  We decided to have dinner at the Ramen Butcher, because the place looked packed through their windows.

I'm just dying at this candid shot of Daniel. Poor baby. He was so disappointed that he couldn't try the epic fried chicken at Phnom Penh and had to settle for this instead. πŸ˜‚  I guess this means we have to plan another trip to Vancouver again!!

Our first day there felt so long with the early flight and the three hour time difference. We both fell asleep early to get ready for our jam-packed day the next day! With that said, STAY TUNE FOR PART TWO! 😜

Birthday Gifts

I actually didn't tell anyone what I wanted for my birthday this year, but somehow all of my friends and family knew exactly what I would like!! I'm so excited to add that new charm to my bracelet (Thanks Susie!), use my brand new eyeshadow palettes (Thanks Hanna and Nancy!), try new recipes (Thanks Fab 4!), apply face masks (Thanks Fab 4!) while bathing in my bath bombs (Thanks Alpha and Dillon!), take polaroid photos (Thanks Joy!) and travel with my new passport holder (Thanks Jenn and Gary!). THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS!!!! I can't wait to put everything to use!!!!! ❤️

The Best Burger

I'm going a little out of order for my blog posts because I wanna tell you guys about the event I attended last night, in case you might be interested! Camille and Joy bought Thiya and I tickets to The Artist Project! I still can't believe the four of us have never heard of this event until now, even though they're hitting their 10th year anniversary this year... πŸ˜…

If you're into contemporary paintings, you gotta check out this art fair that's only happening this weekend! There were hundreds of paintings displayed, which made it really hard to pick our favourite one. After you drop by, I recommend that you dine at Doomie's and try their version of the Big Mac! I'm not vegan, but I can't rave enough about this burger!!! It's ginormous and saucy. πŸ˜›

Thanks again Camille and Joy for planning this outing and thanks Thi Thi for being my personal photographer! πŸ˜„  Hope you're all having a great weekend so far!! I'll be back with another blog post tomorrow. πŸ˜‹

Last Weekend

As mentioned in my last post, majority of my friends voted to have my birthday party held at my place. Since it was my first time throwing a house party for thirty guests, I really wanted it to be memorable!

I made jello shots, bought a helium tank, baked chicken wings and pizzas, purchased Snapchat filters, raided Bulk Barn and had way too many bags of chips. Daniel made fun of me and said I was like a little high schooler throwing her first party! Truer words were never spoken!!! πŸ˜‚

I'm not even gonna lie, it was hard trying to enjoy myself, while trying to be a good host and please everyone. I was running around all night that if Claudia and Hanna didn't pull me aside for a mini photoshoot, I wouldn't have any photos to share from my party. I still regret not getting a photo with everyone at the party! Some of these photos are out of focus, but I love the people I took these with ...so why not! ☺️

Thanks again to everyone who made the time to come out and celebrate with me!!!! It really meant a lot. πŸ˜šπŸ’•

Planta

I'm super stoked that it's finally reading week!!!! I have been looking forward to this since school started!!!! πŸ˜„  I went MIA last week because I had so many things due for school. But I'm finally back with anotha blog post, so let's just jump right into it!

On my birthday, Daniel surprised me with flowers and took me out to dinner at a new vegan restaurant in Yorkville, called Planta! I discovered this place through my Instagram feed (the usual!) and was captivated by their interior. Initially, I was going to host my birthday brunch there, but most of my friends voted for a house party instead. Either way, I'm still so happy I finally got to try this place out!

It's seriously worth all the hype and I would definitely go back again. After reading several reviews on Yelp, we went with their cauliflower tots, shared their "Italian Job" pizza and split their classic burger. They gave us five pieces of the Cauliflower tots, so I was low key ecstatic when Daniel said I could have the last one!! I still offered it to him ( just to be nice) but y'know, I had mentally claimed it already. πŸ˜‰  This appetizer was so good that it had us scraping the truffle parmesan off the plate!

Once our mains arrived, we were really curious about this "fennel sausage" on the pizza and if the burger would be better than the one we tried at Doomies. Daniel was actually confused at first as to why I would want to try a pizza with meat on it. He completely forgot that we were at a vegan restaurant! Aiiii yaaaa. πŸ˜‚

The pizza was good, but it was just something I couldn't eat more than two slices of. Meanwhile, their burger and fries were really filling and flavourful. We both agreed that it would be even better if it was as saucy as Doomies' version of the Big Mac!

After dinner, we went back to his place and he showed me the special montage video he made for me. Thanks again Daniel for trying so hard to make every birthday memorable for me!!!!!!!! ☺️πŸ’˜ You make me just as happy as that french fry does in the photo! πŸ˜‚

I actually just came back from Vancouver this morning and I'm SO excited to share all the photos from my trip! Before I can get to that, I still have some catching up to do on here. So stay tune for more guys!!!

Happy birthday Susie!

Happy birthday to my big sister, Susan!!!! You're my voice of reasoning, my confidant and my biggest supporter. I still can't believe your birthday is a day after mine! I still think I was the best birthday gift you've ever received, even though you told me you were traumatized when you saw me for the first time at six years old. πŸ˜‚

You're the only person who knows how to get under my skin and how to embarrass me real good in front of others. Nonetheless, I wouldn't trade you for anyone else!!! I can always count on you to be honest with me and tell me if I'm dressing like a potato sack, if my big toenail is too long and if my eyebrows are looking like cousins, instead of sisters.

I have always admired your work ethic, maturity, sense of style, wisdom and big heart. You're a living proof that hard work pays off!!! I've seen you get knocked down many times, but you've always held your head high and kept moving forward. You're everything I strive to be, from your poise to your accomplishments (i.e. finding a stable job, having a loving hubby, owning a beautiful home before hitting 30!).

I'm forever grateful to have someone like you in my life and I can't wait until the day you start popping out babies!!! I hope Ryan treated you like a queen and spoiled you like silly today, like he always does. ☺️

Happy Birthday to Me!

I still cannot believe that my boyfriend was able to pull this off and get so many of my close friends and family in this birthday montage!!! I'm so thankful for all those who took time out of their day to make this for me and to those who wished me a happy birthday today! πŸ’˜ Also, thank you Daniel for putting in so much effort to make sure my day was special and memorable! I feel soooo blessed to have such amazing people in my life.

BUT HOLY SHNITZEL GUYS!!!! I can't believe I'm turning 22 today! It's crazy to think that I had this blog since I was 14 years old?! Most of you watched me grow up on here, saw me as I went through my different phases for my teeth (from braces, to a missing tooth, to getting a crown and now a permanent retainer!), celebrated with me as I graduated from middle school and high school, followed my adventures with my best friends and saw how my very first relationship unraveled!

Okkkk.. this is starting to sound like I'm about to announce that I'm going to quit blogging for life or something... but rest assured that I ain't going anywhere! πŸ˜„

Happy Birthday Joy!

Oh Joy!!! I don't even know where to start with this post. You entered my life in grade two and literally shaped me into the person I am today. I can still vividly remember us dancing on top of my furniture to Kelly Clarkson's break up songs and re-enacting Lindsay Lohan's music videos with my stuffed animals. I also remember how we used to be neighbours and would talk to each other outside our windows. I'm pretttttty sure everyone heard our conversations!! πŸ˜‚

Once I moved away and changed schools, our friendship didn't change one bit! You visited me almost every weekend in middle school. We would always bike to Metro to pick up a box of mac & cheese or to the convenience store for coca cola slushie and beef jerky.. or BOTH! We would explore all the parks in my neighbourhood and carve our names on a tree or fence to mark our territory. We also took lots of silly pics while we were at it! We would get so creative with our photos by hanging my digital camera on a tree branch, balancing it on a bench or finding a way to prop it up in the grass. This blog was a keepsake for all the memories we made.

Once we entered high school, we still remained super close! Instead of exploring my neighbourhood, we were now exploring the city together! We were constantly on the hunt for the best macaron. If we weren't out and about, we would be making tents in my bedroom and trying to take artsy photos with my camera's flash. πŸ˜‚

After all these years, it's so amazing how strong our friendship still is! Despite all the new friends we've made along the way, we're still the bestest of friends! You're literally my favourite person to do anything with and also... nothing with! Even though we don't see each other as often as we used to, we both already know that we're going to be here for each other no matter what and that we are welcomed at each other's houses any time!

Joycelyn, you're still the same outspoken, kind hearted and adventurous person from the first day we met. The only things that really changed... is your hair length and height! πŸ˜‚

I'm forever grateful to have someone like you in my life! Happy 22nd birthday biffle! Can't wait to celebrate many more birthdays with you!!!!!! πŸ’˜
